Self Driving Cars

Google has been  successful in testing and operating driver less cars. Their technology with self driven cars has in fact opened new laws in the state of Nevada, which now actually issues license for driver less vehicles.

Toyota also recently has experimented with self driven car technology and their first demonstration will be at CES in Las Vegas, later this week. Read more here

Self Driving car technology will be a game changer in road transportation safety. The technology behind this generally involves an on-board radar, laser and video cameras to monitor the road, the surroundings, and the driver. In addition, the cars can also communicate with other vehicles and prevent crashes with safety that is fail proof compared to human operators. 2013 will the year in which this technology will be road tested and implemented on a much wider scale for public acceptance.

Google Fiber is currently offered only in one city in US – in the Kansas City area, where a fiber optic cable network similar to telephone cables has been set up.

Internet data transmission speeds averaging one gigabit per second of data are possible on this service due to fiber optic cable connectivity to customer’s homes. Fiber optic cables transmit data in the form of light through thin glass threads. All this means downloading a full length HD film in under a minute!

The service is affordable with a subscription cost of only $70 per month with additional television service just $50 more per month. Subscribers to Google’s service receive a complimentary Nexus 7 tablet, which doubles as a TV remote control.
